The Highlands
Explore
the highlands, spectacular snowcapped mountains which Alexander Von Humboldt
called the "Avenue of the Volcanoes", valleys enclosed between the two
main Andes' Cordilleras which are 13,000 feet high, Indian markets and
colonial cities, the trip through Ecuador's highlands is unique in many
ways.
Come
and visit the picturesque villages with their own distinctive style and
flavor in a region of rich cultural heritage and don't miss out on the
train ride down the Devil's Nose, considered among the most impressive
train-rides of the world.
Cotopaxi
National Park and Market

south to visit Cotopaxi National Park , where the highest active volcano
on earth, is the main attraction. Explore the peaceful Andean moorlands,
the breeding site for a llama herd and home to over 100 species of highland

Pujilí indigenous markts.
Saquisilí
Under the surveilance of the great Cotopaxi, to its South you find the
Saquisili market where agricultural products and handicrafts come from
all over the central provinces of the country. While walking around the
five bustling plazas, with their food, clothing and crafts, you will notice
a unique animal market.
Pujilí
Visit the colorful market at Latacunga, one of the countries most varied
markets thanks to its spontaneous blend of indegenous and mestizo(mixed)
cultures with their unique elements blended in their products and colours.
Riobamba
and Guano

Quito to visit Cotopaxi National Park. Visit Ambato, a quiet city known
for its fruit and flowers. After a drive to lower lands, arrive in Baños,
famous for its medicinal springs, discover orchids and waterfalls at the
base of the Tungurahua Volcano. Riobamba city tour includes La Concepción
Museum and its priceless baroque monstrance. Then, visit Guano, known
for its handmade carpets. On the way back to Quito, admire the undeniably
majestic Avenue of the Volcanoes as the sun sets.
Otavalo Surroundings
Travel
north to the home of the Otavalo Indians. Spend the day at the famous
Otavalo Indian Market discovering enticing products such as wonderful
textiles, naive paintings, ceramics, and much more, then visit Cotacachi
to find a variety of leather goods. Full board included.
Visit
Peguche, where excellent wool tapestries are made and Ilumán, a pleasant
little town known for its traditional healers.
Visit
San Antonio de Ibarra and stop at Cayambe to try their delicious biscuits
and cheese. Finally, stop in Calderón, famous for its handmade bread-dough
figures.

to the Cotopaxi National park and visit the highest active volcano on
earth. Visit Ambato, the city of flowers and fruits, arrive in Riobamba
at sunset. Reach the Alausí train station and experience the adventurous
