Description:

Day 1: Panama City - Cerro Azul Pick up at the airport and transfer to Cerro Azul. Overnight at the Hotel Casa de Campo Country Inn & Spa.

Day 2: Cerro Azul This morning travel to the nearby foothills of Cerro Azul and Cerro Jefe at Chagres National Park. Specialties here include Black and Yellow, Rufous Winged, Bay Headed, Olive and Hepatic Tanagers and the rare Tacarcuna Bush Tanager. Also look for the endemic Striped Cheek Woodpecker, Swallow Tailed Kite, Bronze Tailed Plumleteer, Tawney Faced Gnatwren and White Tipped Sicklebill.

Day 3: Cerro Azul Travel to the Kuna Reserve at Nusagandi, located in the eastern foothills. On the trails surrounding the lodge, we may find specialties like the Striped Cheeked Woodpecker, Bicolored Hawk, Slaty Winged Foliage Gleaner, Speckled Antshrike, Southern Nightingale Wren, Rufous Winged, Black & Yellow, Olive, Bay Headed and Speckled Tanagers. Yellow Eared Toucanet, Great Jacamar, as well as army ant followers.

Day 4: Cerro Azul - Panama City Early wake-up for a bird watching hike, afternoon transfer to Panama City. In the evening take a "Chiva Parrandera" fun night city tour & experience Panamanian nightlife. Overnight at the Country Inn & Suites.

Day 5: Panama City City and Panama Canal tour. In the evening enjoy a folkloric dance and dinner at Las Tinajas Restaurant. Overnight at the Country Inn & Suites.

Day 6: Panama City - Anton Valley Transfer to El Valle de Anton and visit the Indian Market. Enjoy birdwatching from a "birds eye view" on the Canopy Tour. Overnight at the Hotel Rincon Vallero or similar.

Day 7: Anton Valley Visit El Nispero Zoo where some endemic species are taken care of after being found injured in the jungle. Admire its unique collection of orchids, the endangered golden frogs, and the rare square tree, El Chorro Las Mozas Waterfall and hot springs. Overnight at the Rincon Vallero or Hotel Campestre.

Day 8: Anton Valley - Cerro La Vieja Transfer by car and then by mule along the Mesoamerican Biological trail to Cerro La Vieja in the mountains of Cocle for bird watching and an ecological hike. Overnight at the Posada Cerro La Vieja.

Day 9: Cerro La Vieja Hiking, bird watching and sun bathing at the 30 meter Tavida Falls and see the mysterious hieroglyphic writing on stones by the falls. Enjoy a mud bath skin treatment. Overnight at the Posada Cerro La Vieja.

Day 10: Cerro La Vieja - Chiriqui Transfer to Chiriqui, visit the Rio Pino de Cobre Canyons with beautiful tropical flora and fauna and crystal clear waters (weather permitting). Here you can observe the tectonic fissure of the canyon. The mineral waters of the canyon are said to have rejuvenating effects. Visit a coffee plantation. Watch for warblers, thrushes, wrens, solitaire, tapaculo, zeledonia, toucanet, woodpeckers, jays and many more. Overnight at the El Bajareque Eco-Lodge.

Day 11: Chiriqui Travel to Cerro Punta to explore the area of Finca, Fernandez and El Respingo. This road is good for viewing the Elusive Resplendent Quetzal, Black and Yellow Silky, Flycatcher, Prong Billed Barbet, Volcano Hummingbird, Silvery Fronted Tapaculo, Scintillant Hummingbird, Golden Bellied Flycatcher, Spot Crowned Woodpecker and other highland avian wonders. Next, you visit the Carta Vieja rum factory. Overnight at the El Bajareque Eco-Lodge.

Day 12: Chiriqui - Panama City Air transfer to Panama City, then to your Panama City hotel or the International airport.
